Leach Colour has invested in its fourth Durst machine as it looks to expand its capacity. The Rho 312R, a 3.2m UV-curable roll-fed printer, joins an existing stable which includes a 320R, P10 250 and a Durst Lambda.
The 312R uses Quadro Array 12M print-heads and features a pass-overlapping setting for higher quality printing and a partial gloss or matte print mode. The machine uses Caldera's GrandRIP+ server and Rho operating software with MIS features, and can support and produce onto rolls of up to 480kg.
The investment in the 312R comes as the company aims to increase its ability to reproduce greyscale for photographic jobs, as well as providing malleable textile products due to the flexible nature of the inks. Leach Colour specialises in products for the fashion, automotive and graphics sectors, providing end products including light-boxes and magnetic wallpaper.
"The relationship between Durst and ourselves goes way back – we both started in photography and moved into graphics," explains Richard Leach, managing director. "Durst's ink is good at keying onto a broad range of materials, which is an important part of driving applications.
"We've grown considerably and need more capacity – and our fastest growth has been in fabric graphics. We are trying to position ourselves where print and interior decoration combine, and we are able to leverage our experience in this area well."
