The Roland VersaArt RE-640 offers image quality of up to 1440 x 720dpi

Having made the investment on the first day of the show, QPS director Chris Bailey travelled to Eventureworks to oversee installation of the new device, which now sits alongside an identical Roland RE-640 that was also installed by QPS last year.

Brian Gibb, director at Eventureworks, comments: “We do a lot of unattended printing and having two identical Rolands means we have greater control over production; we can just load jobs and let them run.”

He continues: “We were toying with the idea of installing a faster, larger machine but decided on two slightly slower, identical printers to give us greater production flexibility and to provide a degree of redundancy in the unlikely event of technical difficulties down the line so we can easily transfer jobs to the other and still work at 50 percent capacity.”

The Roland VersaArt RE-640 offers image quality up to 1440 x 720dpi and, with an optional automated take-up system for unattended printing and ability that offers support fprmedia rolls that weigh up to 40kg in weight.

QPS director Bailey adds: “We're looking forward to seeing the business develop with the additional capacity the second printer allows.”
