Visionect has released its V-Platform content management system and a series of 6" (15cm) V-Tablet and 9.7" (24.5cm) V-Panel displays as it looks to exploit the durability of ePaper systems.
The V-Platform allows developers to build specialist ePaper apps using HTML5, Javascript or CSS3, which can then be distributed and measured via a cloud-based server run on Linux. The CMS uses the WebKit engine, which means that browser-based apps will run to the same specifications across its connected devices.
The V-Table e-readers hold no application data on the devices themselves, are designed to withstand heavy use and are advertised as able to work under water. The devices have so far been tested in for various applications, including interactive information points in museums and for table top ordering in restaurants.
Visionect has made development packages commercially available for $329 (?194), which includes professional support for system design.
