Large-format printer maker Epson, Long Beach, California, announces that Denver-based snowboard manufacturer Never Summer Industries, Inc. is using the Epson SureColor F-Series roll-fed dye-sublimation printers to create graphics for its line of snowboards. The Epson printers are a key part of the sublimation process that fuses Never Summer’s eye-popping artwork onto the top sheet of each snowboard or longboard skateboard.
“From my perspective running the factory, our fleet of SureColor printers, working eight hours a day, has helped reduce downtime and increase consistency, productivity and profits,” says B.J. Slater, the company’s director of manufacturing. “When our built-to-order products go out the door to more than 400 certified U.S. dealers, I’m confident the boards meet all performance, reliability and image quality expectations.”
Never Summer designers and illustrators create concepts, finding ways to blend in the eagle from the company’s logo. After the upcoming winter season’s designs are approved, each graphic file is sent to the in-house print room adjacent to the main factory floor, equipped with four 44-inch SureColor F6070 SureColor printers, one 64-inch SureColor F7070 printer, and heat transfer presses.
