'Welcome to Vanchester' poster at BlowUp media site trends on Twitter

  A Betfair poster erected at BlowUp media's site at Manchester's Piccadilly Gardens has made its mark on Twitter, reaching 2.9 million users within two hours of installation, in the lead up to the start of a new football season.


  The 'Welcome to Vanchester' poster – a nod to a similar application that featured footballer Carlos Tevez in 2009 – displayed at the 166sq m BlowUp media poster site on Monday August 11th also trended at sixth position on Twitter and gained some media coverage across the UK and parts of Europe. Fans' tweets of the poster garnered at least 500 re-tweets from over 1,500 locations worldwide including Indonesia, Netherlands, Germany, Thailand and the UAE.


  Aimee Mckay, sales director at BlowUp media believes the poster may be in the running for the "most viewed" poster in history because of its reception on social media.


  "The extraordinary social media buzz around Betfair's 'Welcome to Vanchester' sign shows how premium giant posters in key city centre locations can get people talking," she comments.
