Norwegian broadcaster adds first SiliconCore anti-moiré LED videowall to studio

The Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation has seen the installation of a high-resolution LED videowall with an anti-moiré filter, which its manufacturers SiliconCore believe is the first such implementation world-wide.

The broadcaster required a screen that would not show moiré patterns when filming, an issue common when using LED screens in television studios. This installation is expected to give the studio more freedom when choosing camera angles and shots, as well as when zooming.

"We worked with Display Systems, our Norwegian partner, over a period of twelve months of extensive testing and benchmarks to develop a unique solution that removed all moiré patterns on high-resolution LED videowalls," states Steve Scorse, vice-president for EMEA at SiliconCore. "Not only does this ground-breaking solution provide any broadcast studio with new levels of freedom and creativity, it also enhances contrast and black level in the picture.

"This was a really innovative project to be involved in and the developments that have been made with regards to introducing anti-moiré technology to LED displays have allowed us to offer this to the wider market as a broadcast solution."
