School children experience a typical day at Ramsay Signs in Portland, Oregon
The sign-making industry has been put to the forefront of US students' minds with the second Sign Manufacturing Day, co-sponsored by the International Sign Association and National Association of Manufacturers.
The event, which takes place on the first Friday of October, saw sixteen companies in different locations around the country open their facilities to local schools, with the aim of showcasing the different career opportunities available within the sector.
"In our second year, Sign Manufacturing Day was a rousing success," comments Lori Anderson, president and chief executive of the ISA. "The experiences of students and companies show that the next generation of workers are interested in the sign and visual communications industry. We just have to continue to make them aware of the good, diverse jobs that our industry contains."
