West-Camp Press Installs Third EFI Printer

Wide-format printer manufacturer EFI, Fremont, California, announces that West-Camp Press, Westerville, Ohio, has expanded its superwide-format inkjet production capabilities with the purchase of an EFI VUTEk GS3250LX Pro printer with UltraDrop Technology. This is the third new VUTEk printer that West-Camp has had installed this year.

The relationship between the two companies dates back to 2007, when 120-employee West-Camp Press first got into the superwide-format inkjet market to gain additional business from one of its existing commercial printing clients.

It has continued to invest in EFI’s inkjet graphics products since.

According to West-Camp CEO Ed Evans, “We were looking for the throughput and the high quality UltraDrop Technology provides, but when we saw the capabilities we could gain with EFI’s ‘Cool Cure LED’ we got very excited. LED has turned out to be one of the biggest advantages the equipment offers, next to the high quality we get from UltraDrop technology.”

Evans says EFI’s cool cure LED technology allows his company to use a wider variety of substrates than traditional heat-based UV curing, which not only saves on shipping costs but also allows West-Camp to produce a broader range of products for its clients.

In related EFI news The Garvey Group, a fully integrated national team of experts in the packaging, entertainment, outdoor and retail display markets, has added a new EFI inkjet press to its suburban Milwaukee production facility.

The Niles, Illinois-based company acquired a 3.2-meter EFI VUTEk HS100 Pro UV inkjet press in order to broaden its production capabilities in the premium-quality, point-of-purchase, transit and outdoor graphics markets for its retail clients and other national brands.

The new press provides near-offset quality on a broad range of substrates, from vinyl banner and billboard material to a variety of rigid media. A new material edge guide (MEG) system that EFI installed with the press ensures full-speed productivity and high quality results even on challenging media, such as corrugated board.

Earlier this year, The Garvey Group had the same press installed in its Los Angeles facility.
