Caldera proposes more speed and streamlined workflow with sweeping upgrades in new RIP, V10

Features such as EasyMedia, for controlling media profiles, aim to make the RIP more accessible to users

Caldera has released a brand new version of its eponymous RIP, its swiftest and most efficient platform yet, which it says recognises the need for wide-format businesses to incorporate workflow considerations within their production environment.

V10 promises users faster turnaround with jobs, performing twice as fast as the previous version thanks to the application of smart processing algorithms. The incorporation of APPE 3.3 and 64-bit data processing will enable users to handle bigger and more complex files, including those with transparency and print layers.

Caldera promises several nifty features within the new RIP to simplify and streamline workflow management. Enhancing its remote management capabilities, the user of HTML5 powers its VisualRemote function; meanwhile, the PrintBoard module for monitoring jobs is now fully integrated within the suite, granting users off-site access to production, alongside the Nesting and Tex and Repeat features.

While, unsurprisingly, the program is designed to work with other devices in Caldera's software suite – its Nexio job definition format kit for example – the makers have ensured that the revision will operate seamlessly with third party applications and MIS systems.

"In the latest version of Caldera, we have considered at length the way companies deploy their RIP, both now and also over the course of the product's lifetime," explains Caldera's chief technical officer, Frédéric Soulier. "V10 marries new usability concepts with major advances in raw speed, making it, we believe, the RIP of choice."
