From Me Printer:
We have witnessed the endless possibilities that 3D printing has to offer. Now, the construction industry is set to experience the magic of 3D printing in Dubai. Dubai, home of magnificent skylines and breathtaking architecture is set to stun the world by building the first fully 3D printed building. The Gulf commercial hub recently announced its plans to create one of its kind building using this 3D printing technology.
The 2000 square feet, one storied office will be printed layer by layer by using a 20 foot tall printer. After the completion of the building, the furniture and interior fixtures will also be built using 3D printing.
"This building will be a testimony to the efficiency and creativity of 3-D printing technology, which we believe will play a major role in reshaping construction and design sectors," said Mohamed Al Gergawi, chairman of the UAE National Innovation Committee.
WinSun Global, the Chinese construction firm which grabbed the limelight by building 10 small houses in 24 hours using 3D printing has been roped for this interesting project. The buildings will be made from reinforced concrete, gypsum reinforced with glass fiber and plastic.
It is expected that the project will be completed within a few weeks with labor costs being reduced by 50 to 80 percent.
