Brookings, South Dakota-based Daktronics, a manufacturer of EMC and electronic display systems of all types, was contracted by Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium in Al-Ardiya, Kuwait, to install two new LED video displays and an additional auxiliary display.

Daktronics says the displays inside the new multi-use facility, which just opened Dec. 18, are the largest and highest-resolution displays anywhere in the Middle East. The recently completed installation provides 135 square meters (about 443 square feet) of video entertainment for soccer matches and other athletic events.

The two main displays each measure 8.78 meters high by 15.36 meters wide and are the first in the Middle East to feature 10-millimeter line spacing using SMD 3-in-1 LED technology. The auxiliary display measures 4.02 meters high by 6.95 meters wide and features a 15HD pixel layout. The company says the displays offer image clarity and wide-angle visibility for every seat in the stadium.

The displays also feature variable content zoning, which allows them to show one large image or be divided into different sections to show any variety of live video, instant replay, statistics, game information, animations and sponsorship messages. The installation includes what the company calls its “Show Control System,” which combines display control software with video processing, data integration and playback hardware. It also features a complete primary and backup system to ensure continuity and optimal performance.

“The new Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium screens are of the most important, the best and the latest external displays to international courts at all levels of the Arabian Gulf and the Middle East area,” says Ibrahim Ashkanani, Amiri Diwan project manager. “These new screens, with other integrated flourished high techs, are to become the new focus and enjoyment points, and will definitely fascinate the fans and audiences in every game inside Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium.”
