The German city of Düsseldorf was the scene of an arson fire, on the grounds of its major international trade fair grounds, which is hosting the international DRUPA conference, and the target of a planned terrorist attack, both of which occurred in the past week.
The fire led to the arrest of two people who are wanted on suspicion of setting a fire that destroyed Hall 18, one of the many exhibition halls on the sprawling campus of the Düsseldorf exhibition centre, which is home to dozens of major conferences and trade fairs every year. Hall 18 has housed refugees since last September. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Attendees at DRUPA, the international print media fair, were not affected because of the distance between Hall 18 and where that event is being held.
Meanwhile, three Syrian men have been arrested in Düsseldorf and accused of being part of a terror plot that involved suicide bombs.
