Apr 18 2018 10:01:50 , 1317

HP Indigo’s Shai Lior is the winner of the prestigious 2018 Johann Gutenberg Prize for his contribution to the invention and development of liquid electrophotography printing (LEP).

An HP Fellow and HP Indigo's head of Advanced Technologies, Lior was in the HP Indigo founding group, making a major contribution to the development of the LEP process over the past 40 years. A prolific inventor, he also authored more than 50 printing patents, and continues to develop and invent revolutionary printing technologies to produce the highest quality prints for commercial, labels and packaging, photo albums and other markets.

Beginning with Indigo’s first Digital Color Press in 1993, nearly every new Indigo and HP Indigo product has started its development in Lior’s lab. This contribution to the digital printing revolution was instrumental in helping Indigo to grow from a small start up to become the recognized leader in digital printing.

Issued by the Society for Imaging Science and Technology, the Gutenberg Award has been given since 1987 for outstanding technical achievement in, or contribution to, printing technology.

Lior will accept the award at the Color and Imaging Conference taking place in Vancouver, BA, Canada in November.
