The show has only been open for a half hour as I write this, but already there have been several major product launches—EFI’s Vutek h series next-generation hybrid; HP’s new Latex R2000, the first HP Latex unit that can print on rigid as well as rollfed materials; and Fujifilm’s new superwide Acuity Ultra. swissQprint is launching the third generation of its highly precise lines of LED flatbed wide-format printers. Inca Digital is previewing—via video—what could possibly the fastest-ever wide-format printer, an as-yet unnamed and unintroduced 1.6-meter machine that had printed a 50-meter-long print in 10 seconds.
A cursory swing through the six exhibit halls shows a heavy emphasis on rigid materials, interior décor, and textiles. The latest World Wrap Cup Masters kicked off at 10 a.m. sharp So, basically, everything under the sun that can be printed—and I wouldn’t lay odds on who’s going to wrap the sun someday.
We will recap FESPA 2018 after the show wraps. In the meantime, keep an eye on our daily video and news feed for the latest announcements from the Berlin show.
