in 2018 Annual ILTA Survey
Burlington,
Mass. – Nuance Communications, Inc. today announced that several documentation
and productivity solutions, spanning multiple categories, have been recognized
for high usage in the legal industry again, according to this year’s annual
International Legal Technology Association (ILTA) survey. Nuance solutions were
cited as the most popularly used within the scanning workflow, cost recovery
and voice to text categories
The
ILTA survey is the largest in the legal industry, providing deep insights into
the legal technology landscape and key decision factors within the profession.
This year ILTA drew input from 481 firms, including more than 92,000 attorneys
and 188,000 users.
“Technologies,
particularly those which automate and streamline information-intensive
processes, play a huge role in improving lawyers’ daily efficiency and freeing
up time to focus on strategic client needs,” says Tracey Mustacchio, Vice
President of Product and Marketing at Nuance Document Imaging. “With legal tech
changing so quickly, ILTA’s annual survey provides a valuable guidepost for
identifying key industry trends and directions.”
In the
scanning workflow category, Nuance Copitrak Scan was reported as the most
widely used solution (23 percent of respondents) among organizations using this
type of software, with Nuance eCopy ranking second (16 percent). Nuance’s
Equitrac Scan to Me and Autostore were also recognized for frequent
deployments. In the cost recovery category, Nuance Copitrak Scan repeated its
first-place ranking (32 percent) from last year, with Nuance Equitrac claiming
third place (17 percent).
With
voice to text applications growing in popularity, Nuance Dragon occupies
significant legal tech market share, with Dragon Desktop speech recognition
emerging as the top solution being deployed in 2018 (48 percent), and Dragon
smartphone technology, which includes the Dragon Anywhere mobile dictation
application, holding the third-place position. In the digital dictation
category, Dragon placed third (21 percent) in its first time ever on this list
among organizations using digital dictation.
“Enhancements
in accuracy, speed and convenience are leading to greater adoption of voice to
text and digital dictation tools like Dragon,” says Mark Geremia, VP and GM,
Nuance Dragon Professional and Consumer. “The ability to easily dictate or
transcribe audio files gives lawyers tremendous flexibility in ensuring
comprehensive, reliable data is captured and distributed within critical
practice and case management systems.”
Finally,
Nuance demonstrated significant strength and traction in the PDF editing and
redacting category, gaining ground on traditional category leaders. Nuance
Power PDF/Power PDF Pro ranked second at 39 percent, up a sizeable margin since
last year.
