Tags & Labels Printing Finds Perfect Digital Packaging Solution with Heidelberg’s Versafire EP
Kennesaw, Ga. – Tags & Labels Printing, a family-owned company in Hallandale, Florida, is now offering short-run packaging work to customers thanks to its recent installation of the Heidelberg Versafire EP.
Prints on Heavy Stock with Offset Quality
Focusing primarily on packaging, Tags & Labels Printing was eager to move into the digital world to offer short-run work to customers. With the limitation of printing heavy stocks on digital equipment, the company stayed with offset. According to Lisa Appelbaum, Marketing and Sales Director at Tags & Labels Printing, “We could only find digital equipment that was allowing us to print up to 16-point board. Once we heard about the Versafire EP having the capability to support 24-point stock, we knew it would be right up our alley.”
Only a month after installation, Tags & Labels Printing is already showing off the capabilities of the press by doing prototyping and sampling work for customers, which includes printing on a variety of synthetics and also printing up to 13” x 27.5” sheets. Printing at 4,800 x 2,400 dpi and with a new toner formula, the Versafire EP exceeds the challenging expectations of Tags & Labels Printing’s customers while running at speeds of up to 135 letter pages per minute.
“The Versafire EP is opening the doors for us to be competitive in the market with our price and turnaround times,” said Appelbaum. “The quality from the Versafire EP gives us another advantage – it’s almost identical to offset. It also prints consistently from sheet to sheet while also allowing us to match colors, so that we can quickly print repetitive work for our customers.”
The digital press includes a variety of advanced technologies that are helping Tags & Labels Printing stand out — including the high-precision inline registration, which actively controls every sheet so that it is steered and adjusted automatically. Additionally, the inline sensor on the Versafire EP color calibrates the engine by measuring the registration target, feeding it back in the machine, and setting it up — making this press simple to use for all printers.
The Name Heidelberg Speaks Volumes
Being a partner with Heidelberg for more than 20 years, it was an easy decision to bring the Versafire EP into the print shop based on the quality and service that the company has received with its Speedmaster SM 52 and Printmaster QM 46.
According to Appelbaum, “We chose Heidelberg because we know what we are going to receive, which is superior customer service and quality. We also know that the name Heidelberg brings a strong reputation that our customers and the other printers we work with can respect. Partnering with Heidelberg speaks volumes for our company.”
